Synopsis

In 2045, a global economic collapse and rapid AI advancement have led to an unending conflict known as the Sustainable War. While the threat to humanity's existence from AI isn't yet apparent in daily life, cybercrimes by a new human evolution, the Posthumans, are on the rise. Public Security Section 9, under the command of the cybernetic Kusanagi Motoko, travels to a war-torn Tokyo. There, they encounter a refugee group named "N" and a confrontational American Special Forces unit. A hijacked submarine escalates the situation, pushing Public Security Section 9, American forces, and the Posthumans into a dangerous three-way battle with the looming threat of nuclear war.
