Natsume Yuujinchou

Synopsis

Takashi Natsume, burdened by the sight of supernatural beings, has lived a solitary existence, moving between foster homes. His life takes an unexpected turn when he releases Madara, a powerful spirit disguised as a cat. Madara recognizes Takashi's resemblance to his grandmother, Reiko, a woman renowned in the spirit realm for compiling the Book of Friends. This artifact, now in Takashi's care, contains the names of youkai Reiko had subdued. Though uninterested in its power, Takashi vows to safeguard the book in his grandmother's memory and shield it from malevolent spirits. He forms an alliance with Madara, who agrees to protect him in exchange for the book upon Takashi's passing. This pact sets Takashi on a path to liberate the spirits Reiko had bound, gradually fostering connections with both humans and youkai.
